What's up with "fearing" the Lord?

The Bible says that the fear of the Lord Is the beginning of wisdom, (Psalm 111:10) and the beginnning of knowledge (Proverbs 1:7). This has misled many people, because the truth is that fear is really evil and is indeed the only enemy we have.

You can heal any condition if you can get rid of the fear attaching to it. Trouble or sickness is nothing but subconscious fear outpictured in our surroundings. It is true at all times that "we have nothing to fear but fear itself."

How then do we account for the texts quoted?

The answer is that in the Bible the fear of God means reverence for God, not fear in the usual sense of the word.  Reverence for God is the beginning of wisdom.

How do we show reverence for God?

Not by fine professions or sanctimonious prayers, but by seeing God everywhere, refusing to recognize anything unlike Him, and by living the Christ life.
Confidence is worship. You worship whatever you trust.
Are you trusting more in evil or in good? in fear or in God?
What are you worshiping?
That is the test.

"Acquaint now thyself with Him, and be at peace."  Job 12:21.

What meaning do your words carry?

What meaning do your words carry?
When you apply a certain word to God/Spirit/Universe/Source/the One (pick your preference), it must bear the same essential meaning as it does when you apply it to humankind - otherwise it has no meaning at all.

When you say that God is Love or the is only One Intelligence, or that the Universe/Source is just, these words must for all intent and purpose mean what they mean when applied to human beings - or else they are new and special words which therefore carry no significance whatever.

The love of God must be essentially the same thing that you and I know as the love of the mother for her child, or the love of the artist for his creation, as an example. It must be the same quality as these - purified and increased to infinity, of course, however, still the same thing in quality; or the term has simply no meaning.

When we say that the Universe/Source is just, we must mean the same kind of thing that we mean when we say that a certain Judge, or anyone else in authority, acts with justice - or the word has no meaning at all. The justice that is God will include an infinite perspective and be quite flawless, however it will be essentially the same thing in its nature.

Many people say that God is Love, and at the same time maintain that He visits finite sin with eternal punishment. They claim that God is just, and yet maintain that people living today are suffering for a sin supposed to have been committed by Adam thousands of years before they were born. There are still a small number of people who believe that every human being was predestined to heaven or hell before he was created at all, and that his conduct, good or bad while on this earth, would make no difference to his fate. And the same people say that God is just. No wonder people get confused.  The words cease to have meaning.

If the attributes of what we label “God” are supposed to signify something different from that conveyed by the ordinary meaning of the words, we cannot know what such meaning is. You might as well say, "I believe that God is x + y, but I don’t know what either letter means"

The truth is that God is Love and God is Intelligence; and that God works with perfect wisdom and perfect justice to all, at all times, in the ordinary and correct meaning of these words.

"God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all."
Not a bad quote from the Book of John (1:5)

How to change your consciousness and weather the storm of circumstance.

Check out these spiritual approaches that are always important and needed in times of crisis:

Put God First. Putting God first is the best insurance policy, your ultimate safety net. Prioritize what's essential in your life. God is the source. You will attract the re-sources you need to fulfill your purpose and contribute to a better world. Meditate to calm your fears, invoke creative solutions and make wiser decisions.
Stay present. Not even the best financial experts know what will happen to the economy in the future, so the best approach is to stay aware and awake in the present so that you can be flexible and respond as needed. When fears of the future arise, focus your intention in the present and allow your intuition to guide you.
Be open to emerging opportunities. Be alert to new doors opening as old ones close. Crisis can sometimes bring wonderful surprises and much needed changes that are blessings in disguise.
Be practical, and do your financial homework before investing in or buying anything of significant value. Don't believe everything you see or hear. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. …It's important to research everything as thoroughly as you can, using alternative as well as mainstream sources. I had to make a "rule" for myself... no major financial expenditure without three days of prayerful consideration.
Welcome and embrace change. Explore where you may be stuck in old patterns—physically, emotionally, mentally; as they relate to money, your relationships and outer sircumstances and release these patterns through conscious awareness. Call upon your spiritual will to help release the old patterns which no longer serve you and strengthen more positive patterns.
Release the seeming need to be in control and practice detachment from personal comfort. Be flexible and flowing so that you can adapt to any personal or collective upheavals that might show up in your world. Our world is undergoing rapid change right now. Let go of needing any particular outcomes for yourself personally.
Shift from anger to forgiveness. Acknowledge any strong feelings catalyzed by recent crises, such as anger toward anyone who your believe has contributed to your problems both personal and financial. Then work on releasing anger at your mistakes and the mistakes of others and embrace forgiveness. When in doubt, take a moment and pray the Lord's prayer. Breathe through it. It's not a race to see how fast you can say the words!
Explore the deeper fears behind your worries and concerns (which are fear writ small) . Honestly face what you most fear—poverty, bankruptcy, etc.—and understand what fear can teach you. Is there any rational basis to your fear that you need to face squarely? Keep a larger perspective so that fear doesn't overwhelm you. Remember that you don't have to deal with any circumstance alone. Use your Prayer Partners and the Prayer Ministry. "Ask and it shall be given."
Appreciate that which you already have. Focusing on your impoverishment and what you lack, has the tendency to bring lack and limitation into expression. Rather give thanks for what you have—the many blessings in your life, such as family, friends and good health.
Simplify your lifestyle. Do you really need all of that stuff? Empty the storage unit! The planet could certainly use some lightening up and reduction of energy use. Go within and explore what quality or experience you are trying to satisfy with a material product, and discover a new way to draw all the treasures of the Kingdom into your life.
Form communities and networks of mutual support. Good relationships help you get through all kinds of problems and bring you new, creative solutions. Overcome isolation by connecting with others, which will help you attract what you need.
Be generous as an act of confidence in the abundant universe. There are always others in greater need than you, and what you give of your Time, your Talent and your Treasure, from your heart will return to you a hundred fold! Put that thought to the test! When you help others, you experience a feeling that is spiritually more satisfying than any material reward.

Rob

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

Thank You , Thank You, Thank You!

Strange way to begin a note?

Not really!

One of the things I have been taught, and I have shared with you, is to be grateful for all our blessings; both seen and unseen.

So, why am I thanking you?  FOR YOUR PRESENCE!

You and I have crossed paths for a higher purpose that at first glance would seem to be the case.  From you I have gained tremendous insight as to my relationship with God.

Sidebar: When I first wrote that last sentence I put in the words [to God.] and then it struck me that I was using “old” language which puts God “out there” when the Truth of me (and you) is I am ONE WITH the Presence.  Much better… sigh…

My awareness of that relationship comes from the very subtle changes in thought, feeling and my language which leads to different actions, which brings into manifestation marvelous results that enlighten and illumine my path – Thank you!

As I look out upon my world I have the opportunity to be swept away by appearance of lack and limitation; by the appearance “of revolutions and rumors of wars;” However, the teaching continues, “watch out and do not be disturbed:” [Matthew 24:6]

It is in that moment that the affirmation “Regardless of the appearance, I AM there” can e brought to the fore front of thought and applied with power and authority as you say:

REGARDLESS OF THE APPEARANCE,
I AM THERE!

As you send forth the very vibration of those words into your world you go to that place in consciousness where you are open, receptive and responsive to the Truth of you.  Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!  For answers come- that which I need in the moment comes – and I rest in it.

So, how does this apply to you, today?

What is showing up in your world that appears to be less than the Truth of you?
[Your answer here]

As you see that challenge, know that you have the ability and capability to move from that place of “old limiting thinking” into the Truth by looking past the appearance…

REGARDLESS OF THE APPEARANCE, I AM THERE!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

Rob

FIVE REASONS

Meditation has been practiced for thousands of years. We teach meditaion as a means to moving towards the silence and is one of the key principles handed down to us by Charles and Mrytle Fillmore.
Today, this principle reads,
"With prayer and meditation
we align our heart-mind with God.
Denials and affirmations
are the tools we use."

Here are five reasons how meditation side of this Truth statement can be of assistance...
1. Greater focus
Meditation will improve your focus which will in turn make you more productive in life. You will find you have greater control of your mind and be able to deal with challenging situations more efficiently.
2. Peace of mind
When you meditate regularly, you will experience a profound sense of peace and well being. You will not only feel more at peace with yourself, but with the world around you.
3. Reduce stress
As you regain control of your thoughts and emotions through meditation, you will find that you will not be as stressed in your daily life. This will lead to a happier existence, not only for yourself but for others around you.
4. Presence
Meditation brings you to one on one ocmmunication with the Presence. This gives you an advantage because you can always stay in the present moment and not end up worrying about what might happen in life. This leads to a gain in confidence because you know you can handle any situation.
5. Self awareness
Self awareness is cultivated through meditation. This means you can see yourself very clearly, which means you will make better decisions for the future. You will find yourself making more good decisions and you will start to get rid of bad habits.

So now you have five more reasons why you should meditate.
Coupled with prayer, I meditate several times every day. In my humble opinion everyone should get started as soon as possible and experience the amazing benefits that comes from Prayer and Meditation.

Into 2010 - Happy New Year

Happy New Year !
It's been very busy here as we moved thorugh the 26 Day of Christmas and into this New Year.
Candlelighting was a truly blessed event although we were in heavy fog.  Thank goodness that Santa has Rudolph (grin)
So much for the reasons why it's been a while since I've written you a note.  Our goal this year is to reach out to you at least every two weeks and maybe even more.

By the way Our bi-monthly newsletter is ready in PDF form and you can pick up your copy by going to:  Http://www.unitymedford.org/pdf/1001newsletter.pdf

We have also made available the Silent Unity Prayer Service for both January and February. Each wednesday we physically come together in the chapel, pray with you and others who have requested prayer ans use the Silent Unity Service as a guide. If you can't be physically with us we invite you to connect with us in prayer. Here are the links:

Now, onto our subject for today...
Any Job You Want

You CAN have any job you want.

You do not believe that, do you?

That is why you do not get the job you want now; you do not believe you can get it.
Did you ever hear Mark Twain's advice to the young seeker after a job ?
He said something like this: "Pick out the man you want to work for, and then go and work for him. Tell him you are going to work for him for nothing till he decides you are worth something, and how much." That seems an absurd piece of advice. However, it will certainly work when you really put it into practice.

Here's why. You wouldn't even take this step unless you believed you would be of value to the employer. We all want a place of employment where we are needed and appreciated and where we have something important to give and to receive. We want to be blessed and be a blessing.

When I was looking for work I used this affirmation and I highly recommend that you use a similar one should you be looking for employment...
"I am a beloved child of God. I trust God to guide me to the place of employment where I will be happy, fulfilled and prospered."

Need help with an affirmation? Leave a comment on the Blog, or send me an email and we will work together to develop who you will BE, so that you will be guided to DO what will bless you, in order the you will HAVE all the treasures of the Kingdom.

You have found Unity and Unity has found you.

What is a religion, but not a religion?
What is Christian, but not only Christian?
What is a denomination and not a denomination?
What honors individual difference while seeking universal similarity?
In a word, UNITY!

"What is a religion, but not a religion?"

At the time of its founding, Unity was not intended to be a new religion. When Charles Fillmore was working out the details of this work in his mind, he set out to establish something that would help all people, no matter what their religious beliefs. Even today, many Unity students prefer to think of Unity not as a religion, but as a way of life. The Unity teachings were drafted to be a help in everyday life, and this is still their finest application. The teachings - and we hope, the materials we create based on the teachings - provide a path to personal spiritual unfolding. They are available to and can be used by anyone, no matter what his or her nationality, language, or religion.

"What is Christian, but not only Christian?"

The Unity teachings are based on the teachings of Jesus Christ, and the Bible is our basic textbook. This is only natural, for we are a religion that was born in the United States of America at a time when Christianity was the predominant religious belief of the country. We recognize Jesus Christ as our divine Teacher and Way-Shower, and we strive to apply His teaching to the situations of life today. But just because we designate Jesus Christ as our teacher and model does not mean that we do not recognize other religious teachers and movements of the world. We believe that there are many paths to God and to spiritual awareness, and that regardless of the individual religious beliefs, all people everywhere are seeking the same thing: God. We strive always to honor and to bless people on their individual quests for God, at the same time that we use the teachings of Jesus Christ as our blueprint for learning the ways and wonders of the Divinity.

"What is a denomination and not a denomination?"

When Unity was founded by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore in the late nineteenth century, it was not intended to be a distinct and separate religion. Unity was created to be a support to people within their own religions. It was intended to present teachings and practices that could be used in everyday life, regardless of one's formal religious affiliation.

However, Charles and Myrtle did their job so well that many people who became familiar with these teachings wanted to adopt them as their primary religious affiliation. Rather than use the teachings as a support to their current religious practice, they wanted to release the old ideas altogether and become fully "Unity". It was at this point that Charles Fillmore began to hold Sunday worship services as well as weekday classes, and the Unity church was born. Today there are more than 600 Unity churches and centers, and thousands of people call themselves "Unity". So Unity is indeed a full-fledged denomination. However, Unity does not stop there, for we continue to serve the needs of friends of all religious persuasions throughout the world. Silent Unity is our strongest nondenominational outreach today, just as it was in Charles and Myrtle's time. Silent Unity prays with people from all walks of life about anything that concerns them. When you call or write Silent Unity, we never ask what your religious faith is, just your name and prayer need - and then we pray.
"What honors individual differences
while seeking universal similarity?"
When Charles Fillmore's ideas about spiritual reality were first incubating, he did not have a name to call them. He just knew that he had a certain awareness about the nature of life and of human beings. From studying the information about world religions that was available to him, and from his own inner prayer work, he came to see that there is a universal oneness. All aspects of life interact and support one another; there is a "unity" of all things.

Meditation can lead to an overpowering awareness that everything is part of the one Life, part of that great something we call God. However, just as precious is the awareness that all parts of that one Life are necessary to it. So all our individual differences - differences of color, gender, nationality, temperament, language, age, likes, dislikes, strengths, weaknesses, everything that makes us the individuals we are - are absolutely necessary for the full expression of God in our world. Our differences are meant to be savored and honored just as fully as our similarities. It takes all of us to make up our world, and each of us is beloved of God. We are many, and we are one.

You have found Unity and Unity has found you.

Rob

What is the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION ?

Recently Donna came to me and asked what I thought about the notion of the Immaculate Conception. After a Hummmm... we chatted for a while and then she told me she would get back with me. What she has come up with needs to be shared... so here we go...

IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

"Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to Galilee, to a city called Nazareth, to a virgin who was acquired for a price (dowry) for a man named Joseph, of the house of David; and the name of the virgin was Mary. And the angel went in and said to her, 'Peace be to you, 0 full of grace; our Lord is with you, O blessed one among women.' When she saw him, she was disturbed at his words, and wondered what kind of salutation this could be. And the angel said to her, 'fear not, Mary; for you have found grace with God. For behold, you will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will call his name Jesus. He will be great, and he will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David. And he will rule over the house of Jacob for ever; and there will be no limit to his kingdom.' Then Mary said to the angel, 'how can this be, for no man has known me?' The angel answered and said to her, 'the Holy Spirit will come, and the power of the Highest will rest upon you; therefore the one who is to be born of you is Holy, and he will be called the Son of God.'" Luke 1: 26-35 (Lamsa)

DONNA'S METAPHYSICAL INTERPRETATION

The Immaculate Conception is the coming into activity of the Christ in us.

Jesus is the name that represents an individual expression of the Christ.

Mary, the virgin mother represents the consciousness of divine purity and love.

Joseph represents spiritual wisdom and understanding.

In the purity of our soul Christ is born, individually, in you and in me. Great is the path we walk! Love and Wisdom from deep within grows and flourishes revealing the Truth of us. From the very Mind of God comes Grace, and the Power of the Most High is ours, ours to fully express Christ in our human consciousness.

We need not be afraid, for God seeks nothing but to Be and Express the (SELF), as us. "The I AM is your own True "SELF). The light of understanding will guide us and prepare us for the realization of Truth, and it will bring us peace. When we are fully prepared we will receive.

This is a process, a spiritual evolving, individually. When we Know our human consciousness has integrated with Divine consciousness our Divine Nature will harmonize and bring into manifestation all good things needed to completely enhance our human nature. So let not fear be in our hearts.

The Christ idea in the Mind of God is the Spiritual Self of every individual. The heart is the center through which Spirit comes alive and where love reigns. The Christ is another name for creation, and the means For God's extension. The eternal (SELF) is of the spiritual (the Son of God) and Jesus (the son of man) is the "Teacher" who would connect the thinker with the True source of Thought. And all God is we are; and all God has is ours; and all power is given to us in the fusion of the Son of God and the son of man, there is no separation.

God in his Wisdom shows us through our faith the good to come, like Mary being told before the event took place. We, too, need to prepare and anticipate the divine good that comes to us. Expectation helps good to become active, helps faith to evolve, and brings total trust in the one who has filled us with goodness.

God does reign, God is the Life of all things and is ever seeking to express outwardly, as us. No part of our being is untouched by God's power and Presence. God is the infinite Spirit of the Universe. The Holy Spirit is the activity of God and the Power of the most High is the realization of Truth in the consciousness. It is an inner conviction and assurance of the fulfillment, although there is as yet no outer manifestation. Fear dissolves in the presence of Truth, and the willingness to allow the love in our hearts to unfold will bring us to the coming forth of God Expressing through the activity of the Holy Spirit; it is the Christ child named Donna Mae Rose, it is the Christ child named (your name here).

The creation of the Immaculate Conception has been completed. Let us rest and "call it good".
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
Donna Mae Rose

Thank you Donna!

What was I forgetting to do?

My meditation practices have been in place for many years.

That being said, I have discovered that from time to time I forget how valuable the practice is in my life and stop for a while. Then I wonder (for just one moment… grin...) why things seem to be out of sorts in my life.

So what was it that I was “forgetting” to do?

After I wake up in the morning and have taken a few minutes to know that I’m really awake and not just in a dream state, I spend 15 minutes with my Healing Meditation. I am Holy and whole. This experience of Divine Love is one that I have been trained to teach as well be a participant. I acknowledge and bless my heart, solar plexus, thymus, spleen, navel, throat, Hara (creative Life Center), forehead (third eye), knees, crown, and my feet. In the stillness which follows, I listen for that which is mine in the moment to claim and embrace. Then, gently, easily and effortlessly I bring my attention back to the now, where and when, I am in the moment and close my meditation by reversing the acknowledgement of my body beginning with my feet and finishing at my heart. I then offer a prayer of gratitude and thanksgiving.

Throughout my day I take a few (three to five) minutes for a centering meditation where Guidance and Direction are the focal point prior to interaction with clients or congregants.

About 30 minutes before I think it’s time for bed, I sit, focus on my heart and take 5 minutes to be grateful for all the activities of my day. This quiet time prepares me for a wonderful, restful nights sleep.

On the second Saturday of each month I facilitate and participate in the Healing Meditation Process with a group in the church. The largest group, to date, was fourteen people. We begin at about noon and generally are finished between four and six in the evening.

When I hold to this schedule I find everything runs smoothly. There are few if any conflicts in my day. All my appointments are on time, ready to go and grow. Staff handles all that they need to do without additional instruction from me. Meetings are productive and I am blessed and a blessing.

So what was it that I was “forgetting” to do?

As I reflect on the process it seems that the “slide” begins in one of two ways. First, when three or four days pass between client and congregation appointments. It’s so subtle that, at first, I don’t even realize that THIS day I haven’t spent any time in centering meditations. However, overall things seem to be moving forward, so no alarm bells go off. Or second, I look at my schedule for the coming day(s) and begin to wonder how I will accomplish all that I have to do. Once again, overall things seem to be moving forward, and once again no alarm bells go off, and so I don’t do my “closing the day meditation.” Or when I wake up I jump out of bed and start my day without my Healing Meditation. After all, why not? Things are going so well!

W-H-O-O-P-S

Then, as sure as the sun raises in the east and set in the west, challenges begin to show up. Appointments get cancelled, forgotten or start late. Meetings become ego centered and less than productive. My staff left all their brains at home and I must… well you get the point.

In that moment I once again realize how very important my prayer and meditation work is an imperative part of my ongoing spiritual practice. In that moment I once again decide to remember that which is mine to be; that which is mine to do and that which is mine to have.

I stop “forgetting” and once again continue my practice.

May I humbly suggest that you stop "forgetting" as well?

Rob

Another Surprise

Should you have tuned into our Sunday Celebrations LIVE, or watched from the Lesson Archive Blog, you know that I like to tell stories. I like to tell stories for a couple of reasons. I have discovered that when you hear a story you get to put your own spin on it. You hear what you need to hear in that moment.

That being said, I received this story from Fireflies for the Heart

“A man was exploring caves by the seashore. In one of the caves he found a canvas bag with a bunch of hardened clay balls. It was like someone had rolled clay balls and left them out in the sun to bake. They didn't look like much, but they intrigued the man, so he took the bag out of the cave with him. As he strolled along the beach, he would throw the clay balls one at a time out into the ocean as far as he could. He liked to watch the splash they made and he thought at least he had found something to do with the useless balls of clay.

Everything changed when he dropped one of the clay balls and it cracked open on a rock. Inside was a beautiful, precious stone! He stared wide-eyed at the sparkling gem. Excited, the man started breaking open the remaining clay balls. Each contained a similar treasure. He found thousands of dollars worth of jewels in the 20 or so clay balls he had left. Then it struck him...

He had been on the beach a long time. He had thrown maybe 50 or 60 of the clay balls with their hidden treasure into the ocean waves. Instead of thousands of dollars in treasure, he could have taken home tens of thousands. He stared out at the waves as he realized what he had just thrown away! “

So what did you hear? And, how many balls of clay do you know?

I have discovered it's like that with people. Most of them are clay balls. We look at people, maybe even ourselves, and we see a clay ball. They may not look like much on the outside. They may not always be beautiful or sparkling, so we discount them. We see them as less important than someone who is more beautiful; more stylish; more popular. They may not be wealthy or smart.

The challenge is, we have not taken the time to find the treasure hidden inside that person.

There is a treasure in every person you know. I know it can sometimes be hard to see. However when you will take the time to get to know that person, often times the clay ball will crack open and you will discover a brilliant jewel that will enrich your life. You will discover an amazing friend and an amazing person.

Who can you think of right now that you see as nothing but a Clay Ball? Will you accept my challenge today to see that person as a potential treasure? Will you do something today to discover more about who that person really is - try to find the treasure in them?

My hope is that you will not come to the end of your life and find out you have thrown away a fortune in friendships because the gems were hidden in bits of clay.

My hope is you take the time to see ALL the people in your life as special people.
My Prayer is you take time to see the beauty in yourself...because you truly are a beautiful creation.

Rob

Fireflies

I'll be off to Unity Village on Sunday July 19th for two weeks of classes. One of the things that is so memorable about the village is seeing fireflies in the evening.
That thought has been on my mind.

And we all know that what we hold in mind comes to expression!

So what should appear in my inbox?

A lesson from the Firefly Team
----------------------------------------
I had been invited to attend a friend's family reunion. Coming from
a very small family (I have one aunt & uncle and two cousins) I
decided it would be a kick to go to my first ever family reunion. I
was not quite prepared for the reality.

It was a little overwhelming to be surrounded by hundreds of
people - all related! My friend had 20 sets of aunts and uncles and
untold numbers of cousins. Add in seconds and thirds; great aunts
and uncles; etc. and you can imagine the swarm of people on that
hot July day. There seemed to be more people than the infamous
North Carolina mosquitoes buzzing around!

I met as many strange faces as I could handle, then escaped to
the sanctuary of his grandma's shady porch. That's where I found
his grandma who had also retreated there to escape the heat.
She was so beautiful with her lined, weathered, ebony face
surrounded by soft silver curls. Her dress, solid white with lace,
was fresh and crisp even in the withering heat. It was her face
that drew me, however. She looked so happy and peaceful, her
eyes shining with a bright light that embraced me immediately.
She patted the step next to her rocking chair with her foot. "Have
a seat and rest a spell."

I sank down gratefully. "Kinda a lot of them, aren't there?" she
asked, reading my mind immediately. "More family than I've ever
seen in my life," I agreed, laughing with her when her silvery laugh
tinkled out. I relaxed against the porch column as we shared
stories of our families. She had many more stories than I did, of
course.

There was a brief silence, then Grandma fixed me with her bright
eyes. "Can I give you some advice?" I nodded eagerly. I was
already so impressed with her loving, lively spirit that I wanted to
hear anything she had to say.

Grandma settled back in her rocking chair, her face getting a
faraway look. "I want you to imagine you're my age, 87 years old.
You're sitting in this rocking chair and you're looking back over your
life - thinking of all the things you wish you'd done." She paused
and leaned forward to make sure I was listening. "Now go do
them." Grandma reached down to grab my hand. "You don't want
to live a life that ends in a lot of regrets. You got dreams, girl. I can
see them in your eyes. Now go do them."

I listened - with both my heart and mind. And I want you to know
I've been doing them ever since. I am so thankful I got that advice
when I was so young. It's given me the courage to do things
against the norm, bucking the tide any time I shy away from things
that I know I'll regret if I don't do them. Her advice has given me
the courage to be me.

One of the things I did was make a list of all the things I wanted to
do in my life. It's changed some as I've gotten older, but I love
marking things off as I accomplish them.
Let me share just a small portion of my list with you
1. Travel in every state in America (I've done 49 so far)
2. Work on a ranch in Texas - done
3. Write a book for Teenagers - I've published 6
4. Write historical novels - I've published 4
5. Work with High School kids - 18 years worth
6. Speak 3 foreign languages - I'm working on Spanish but
still have 2 to go
7. Play the guitar - I'm not great, but I play. I love it!
8. Play the piano - not yet, but I will
9. Travel on every continent - not yet, but I'm working on it.
10. Own my own business - I own 4 and having the time of my life!
11. Bungee jump - What a rush! Now that I've done it, my goal
is to bungee from a bridge in New Zealand!

My list is MUCH larger, but it gives you an idea. Make your own list.
Put it up where you can see it, then start working toward marking
off each accomplishment. I don't know if you're 21 or 91 but I
learned a long time ago to live as if this was the last day of my life
- because you never know how much time you have.

I also decided a long time ago to make the most of every day -
believing that if I was still breathing I had that day to live to the
fullest and make a difference. I'm 50 today but I plan on still living
that way every day of my life.

Life can be thought about. Or it can be LIVED!! I hope you'll decide
to live every day, every moment with gusto - coming to the end
with absolutely no regrets! If you do that, then no matter how you
define success - you will have achieved it!

What do you want...

What do you want to bring into expression?

Do you want...

- More money?

- A new job or career change?

- A much bigger house with a huge backyard?

- To meet your soul mate or have a much more fulfilling relationship?

- A life filled with better health?

- Peace of mind or anything else?

Any one (or all) of these things can be yours when you hold a clear mental image of what you want. That process for demonstration begins when you recognize that God is your source. And that in Truth there is never lack or limitation. All things are possible.

The process continues as you begin to eliminate the false beliefs you currently hold in consciousness. We use affirmations and denials (to movements of mind that express power to accept or reject, to lay hold of or let go) to bring focus to our clear mental image of that which we desire.

In my experience affirmations alone do not work!

Let me give you an example… suppose your affirmation is, “I have all the money I need to share and spare right here and now.” On the surface it looks pretty good, however, should you be holding a belief that “rich” people, “moneyed” people, “wealthy” people are greedy, mean, only out for themselves, etc, etc. etc. you have a HUGE problem. You don’t want to be greedy, mean, only out for yourself; therefore your affirmation is in conflict with your beliefs.

Holding onto your vision (clear mental image) can be a challenge. Here are five suggestions for protecting yourself against negativity while supporting your vision.

1) Ignore water cooler gossip and other negative messages.
2) Turn off any media that perpetuates negativity.
3) Read positive material that supports healthy messaging.
4) Listen to positive material that also enhances the energy in and around you.
5) Get support from mastermind groups or a personal coach.

With #5 in mind, how can we serve you?

Fathers Day 2009

Greetings!
As Father's Day quickly approaches it occured to me that you might like to have a reminder of some of the aspects we see in our earthly Father...

F riend

Consult your friend on all things, especially on those which respect yourself. His counsel may then be useful where your own self-love might impair your judgment.
Seneca

A dvisor

I've always followed my father's advice: he told me, first to always keep my word and, second, to never insult anybody unintentionally. If I insult you, you can be damn sure I intend to. And, third, he told me not to go around looking for trouble.
John Wayne

T eacher

An understanding heart is everything in a teacher, and cannot be esteemed highly enough. One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feeling. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child.
Carl Jung

H ealer

The healer is the focal center of faith; through him faith reaches the patient, directly or by means of someone very much interested in him.
Charles Fillmore

E verlasting love

A man without ambition is dead. A man with ambition but no love is dead. A man with ambition and love for his blessings here on earth is ever so alive. Having been alive, it won't be so hard in the end to lie down and rest.
Pearl Bailey

R ole model in Christ

Christ is the Divine man; the perfect Word or idea of God, which unfolds into the true man and is blessed with eternal life by measuring up to the divine standard, thereby fulfilling the law of righteousness.
Charles Fillmore

I'll be talking more about that on Sunday June 21st. If you can't be here in Medford, prehaps you'd like to join us as we stream that service. Use This Link - Live Video Streaming
